BUG.tv provides Graphics Workflow for NBC’s Coverage of the Vancouver Winter Games

NEW YORK – March 1, 2010 – BUG.tv was selected to provide graphics workflow to NBC during the network’s coverage of the Vancouver Winter Olympics, February 12-28, 2010.

As Phil Paully, Director, NBC Olympics Graphics Engineering and Operations, says, “Sports broadcasting is fast and unpredictable. What we needed was a system that was flexible enough to re-arrange our motion graphic clips on the fly, be easy to operate, and produce a high quality output.”

NBC’s Graphic Artists create the bumpers, clips and other short form play-outs, for sports broadcasts on their After Effects systems. Completed .mov files are download to a local SAN where the Class-BugMG pulls the files into individual output channels for the operators to select and re-arrange at a moments notice. The system is so fast, that operators can run previews and then play to air virtually instantaneously.

“Reliability and repeatability are paramount to the Graphics operation of a Sports Broadcast,” says Paully. “With the BUG.tv system we use off the shelf hardware and as a result operator training is shorter. The software has consistently proven itself in different setups for various events. We are very happy to partner with BUG.tv again for the Vancouver Winter Games.”

“NBC asked us to do something that had never been done before with Mac Automation. They were very patient and the final result far exceeded both NBC’s and our expectations. We are pleased BUG.tv has been selected to be a part of NBC’s broadcast of the Vancouver Winter Games,” says Harold Pilote, President of BUG.tv.
